Have you ever come across a case where your dog is having awfully bad breath? So awful that you wish you did not own a dog? If that is the case, it is time to take you pet to the veterinarian. Like humans, healthy dogs do not naturally have smelly breath. According to a finding by the American Veterinary Dental Society, more than 80% of dogs show some signs of gum disease by age three, a full grown dog. This shows the lack of oral hygiene in people having dogs at home.

Why dental care? Lack of dental care can cause severe dental diseases in dogs, which can prove fatal. After a dog finishes his meal, minute food particles remain inside his mouth. These food particles, and bacteria accumulate on the surface of the tooth causing plaque. Continuous formation of plaque can cause tartar (or calculus) to form, and the gums get swollen up and become red color. This stage is called gingivitis. If the tartar is not removed, it accumulates up under the gums, and this slowly separates gums from teeth. This encourages more bacteria. This stage is called periodontal disease. The dog has awfully bad breath (halitosis) at this time, and it is necessary to see your veterinarian. Worse, the bacteria in the mouth passes to intestine with food, and can cause heart, liver or kidney failure in dogs. The bacteria in the mouth can go to the heart through the blood stream. This bacteria can cause valve failure in the heart, and your pet will get severely ill. Diseases of mouth are very painful for the dog, and being a dog lover you would certainly not want your dog to suffer this torture. It is therefore important that you practice oral hygiene for your dog and protect him from severe diseases.

Symptoms of dental diseases:
* Bad breath is arguably the most common symptom of dental disease; there are many other ways to find out that your dog has a dental problem. Open the mouth of your dog, and check the teeth. If they are yellow colored, and have brown deposits on them, it indicates dental problem. Check if the dog gums are red and look swollen. More over, if the dog is unable to eat food, or cries in pain while eating, it means that there is severe dental problem with the dog.
* Prevention and cure – You might already be wondering what could be the remedy. Prevention is better than cure. The best thing is to regularly brush your dogs teeth. It is your first line of defense against plaque, and tartar. Regular brushing keeps teeth healthy, and stops bad breath. Start brushing teeth from the time your pet is young. This will make him accustomed to your finger, and the taste of paste. Later you can start using toothbrushes. There are also a number of commercially available dog-foods approved by vets, and these can be provided to your dog. These foods are made such that your dog chews them well, and in the process, the plaque and tartar gets removed. In case of gingivitis, and periodontal disease the vets give anesthesia to the dog, and mechanically remove the tartar. Scaling is often done to remove the tartar that is accumulated under the gums. Once this is done the teeth are polished so that it is difficult for bacterial to develop on the teeth. After treatment, you need to regularly brush dogs teeth, feed hard food, and regular checkup is necessary. It is therefore very necessary that you regularly brush your dogs teeth just like taking care of our own and maintain proper oral hygiene. Dental care is very important for the well being of your dog.

Dental braces are now considered not only as a way of making a person looks good by reshaping the outward growth of his or her teeth to become vertically inclined inside his or her mouth to preclude an ugly look that might otherwise destroy his or her beautiful face. Indeed, a beautiful face can be severely destroyed by a protruding mouth due to the outward growth of teeth inside the mouth. These braces are also instrumental in setting the right positions of teeth in the mouth to enable a more efficient chewing of foods. Because of its importance, a family would now have to subject their son or daughter with outward growing teeth to be corrected with the use of dental braces. If a family is covered by a health insurance, there is the possibility that dental braces might be partially covered by the insurance. Partial coverage can help defray the cost of dental braces. It is however advisable that if you have insurance that partially covers the cost of dental braces, an added or supplemental insurance would be needed so as to make you completely free from the high cost that dental braces can bring. Primarily because of its cost and the growing needs of families to correct the abnormal growth positions of their childrens teeth that might otherwise affect their health and facial beauty, insurance companies have now designed very affordable insurance for dental braces. This type of insurance will now make it easy on the pocket of parents who might find it hard to have dental braces for their children due to its prohibitive cost. Orthodontic care is a specialized aspect of the dental profession. This is why you will find that dental braces which form part of orthodontic care are more likely to be priced much higher than the cost of other types of dental care. Low cost dental braces insurance can be very helpful. This actually is one reason why there are already many children or even teenagers who have dental braces, not withstanding the high cost of such dental service. It should however be noted that if you are planning to have a low cost dental brace insurance for your family, care in selecting the type of dental brace insurance policy should be fully made. There have been numerous cases whereby the total amounts of insurance coverage were not sufficient to cover for the total cost of dental braces. This situation will only tend to aggravate further the financial strain to the family because of the additional expenses that they will have to overcome. Scrutinizing carefully the fine print of the Insurance policy should be made prior to signing and paying the first premium of your low cost dental brace insurance. If you find parts of the policy you are not clear about, always clear this out with the office of the insurance company. Doing it this way will make you aware if until how much is your insurance coverage and if what are the other limitation of your low cost insurance dental brace coverage. There are dental terms that you might encounter aside from legal terminology that are sometimes used in the fine print. Take time out to inquire about these terms and be clarified since you have every right to know what you are going into an agreement in the first place. By: Jane A. Give Me Dental or Give Me DeathAmericas State of Oral DecayJuly 9, 2007by Kimberly HoltWe are facing a tremendous crisis in this country. Its not talked about much. I started a website, http: //www. getfreedental. com, to help adults get the dental care they need at no cost, or at the very least, very little cost. The response Ive received has been incredible. In the few weeks the site has been up, Ive received hundreds, nearly a thousand emails from average Americans with stories that are truly heartbreaking. These are your everyday, average American people. Not living in poverty, but just making enough to pay the bills and put food on the table. It seems that millions of people have such bad dental problems that they are unable to work, unable to be productive members of society and most have trouble just being a part of social society. You never hear anyone talking about it because they think that they either have to make do or adjust. They have heart problems, diabetes and other health problems because of their teeth! Dental costs are so high that no one can afford it. Dental insurance is a joke. They pay as little as $1000 a year and so are the so-called discount plans. It would be great if the government extended Medicaid dental benefits to adults as well as children. I believe that in doing so, more people would be working. There would be a tremendous restoration of confidence to attend work (to go for the higher paying jobs), and that loss of work due to infections and resulting health problems would be down tremendously. Lets not even get into the psychological end of it! I think that most of the people who do not suffer with dental problems believe that people just dont take care of their teeth, or that they are drug addicts and deserve what they get! Well, I was born with paper thin teeth and I have taken better care of my teeth than most people I know! Im not a drug addict and never have been. Its simply a matter of genetics! I really dont know that much about politics (except the ones in my own house! ) lolIn light of all the politicians and everyone else that voted to take adult dental Medicaid away, (were assuming they all could afford dental care) I have a suggestion… They really dont realize how much they have affected the workforce and healthcare. Its just a matter of money to them. It seems to me they spend a lot of money on useless things instead. They claim to have billions of dollars in grant money for everything that just sits there unclaimed. So how about this… how about making a few of those billions available every five years or so so that we can get RESTORATIVE care, not EMERGENCY care. Just make it available for an entire year to everyone that needs it. The dentist wont suffer a bit. People would return to work (or have the confidence to get a job), and there would be a lot less need for medical care for dental related health problems. Hey! I would even do something in return for it. Pick up a highway or something! Whatever you want me to do! lolCommunity service for the cost of the services! Folks, things are just going to get worse. What are these people supposed to do? Just assume life is over for them? How fair is that? They are just like everybody else. They deserve a chance. One out of 250 young adults is missing all of their teeth. What kind of future are they facing? Many have told me they think about suicide. Take a look at yourself. Imagine having a mouth full of missing or decayed teeth and trying to live the life you do now. Im ready to start a petition. SOMETHING has to be done!

Having good teeth is not only important to humans it is also important to your dogs health. They deserve to have good dental care because their teeth are used not just for eating but also for cleaning and grooming themselves. Just like humans a dog teeth can build up tartar or plaque which can cause gun disease. Gum disease is an infection resulting from increase of soft dental plaque on the outside of the teeth around the gums. The bacteria in dental plaque irritate the gum tissue if plaque is permitted to accumulate, will lead to infection in the bone around the teeth. What effect does this have on your dog? You will notice the dog will have bad breath and the gums will become irritated, they will start to bleed and the dog will have oral pain, your dog could lose its appetite or drop food from its mouth while eating. As a dog gets older they will require more dental care so that their teeth remain healthy, so it is important to know that while they are still young, their teeth should already be properly taken care of. Your dogs DietIf you have a young dog start them on good quality dry foods. The crunchy texture helps the removal of plaque which moist foods are unable to. The crunchy feature also helps to stimulate the gums so that gum diseases are also prevented. It is always best to consult your vet on the type of dental care you should be providing for your dog. Some breeds are more susceptible to dental problem than others and your vet can suggest the right food for themProducts For Dog Dental CareThere are many products on the market now available for your dogs dental health, from specially designed biscuits, chewing bones (such as pigs ears), toothpastes and tooth brushes. By using them it will decrease the chance of your dog getting gum or teeth disease. Always use specially prepared dog toothpaste. Because dogs cannot rinse and spit after a brushing, the dog toothpaste must be safe for pets to swallow! Some human toothpaste contains detergents which can upset your dogs stomachs, and, in addition, large quantities of ingested fluoride can harm your dog. To go with the toothpaste you can use a regular brush or a finger brush. The finger brush can easily be placed over your finger so that it is easier to brush your dogs teeth. Consult your vet on what they recommend to be the most suitable for your dogs teeth. Your dogs teeth need to be cleaned at least twice a week. Do this and your dog will love you for it. A career as a Dental Assistant will open many doors of opportunity. Dental Assistants will be among the highest growing occupations from now until 2012. This is because people are starting to take a better interest in their oral health. Technological advances have led many individuals to the dentist office for cosmetic dental procedures rather than just cleanings and major dental work. Also, people are living longer, so their teeth need more care to stay healthy throughout their life. The most common place of employment to find Dental Assistants is in the dental office. Here they provide a variety of services. They often help to comfort scared patients prior to procedures as well as give them follow up care at the end of the appointment. Dental Assistants clean the tools used as well as make sure each work unit has the necessary tools and equipment ready for the next patients procedures. Dental Assistants in the dental office work very closely with Dentists and Hygienists. They often sit in on all procedures, handing staff the necessary tools. Dentist offices are generally small so Dental Assistants often help with lab work. This includes making molds of teeth for caps, bridges, and other dental work. They may also be required to assist with the taking of X-rays. A common place for Dental Assistants to be employed is in prisons. With more and more prisons being built all over the Nation, Dental Assistants are in great demand for Federal, State, and privately owned prisons. Working as a dental assistant in a prison setting requires more caution that in a regular dental office. All Nursing Assistants need to be aware of the risk of communicable diseases that are transmitted via saliva and blood. However, the rate of these diseases, especially HIV, is much higher with a prison population than the general public. Also, some inmates might try to attack by biting. Nursing Assistants in a prison setting need to be alert, and never let down their guard, inmates often look for any opportunity to escape or obtain weapons. They can use a dental tool as a weapon against you, other staff, or other inmates. It is very important that you keep very close track of all dental tools in a prison setting. Never leave a tool in the reach of an inmate for even a moment. If you discover a tool is missing, immediately notify your supervisor and follow the procedures outlined in the prison policy. For those Dental Assistants wanting to help the lower income populations, securing employment in a Child Development Center, Head Start, or Migrant program is an excellent way of giving back to the community. Often, these populations cant afford dental care and would go without it if the services werent offered as part of a government program. Employment in these types of agencies as a Dental Assistant often pays less than other employment opportunities in the field. However, many Dental Assistants make the choice to help those in need rather than earn more money. There are many opportunities to work as a Dental Assistant for agencies who serve the disabled. Often, Dental Assistants are afraid to work with such a population. However, once you feel comfortable with disabled people and their disabilities, you will be able to provide proper care to those who are in need, regardless of their mental capacity or physical appearance. A career as a Dental Assistant offers you many areas of employment including dental offices, prisons, low income programs, and for facilities who serve the disabled. The ability to choose the type of environment you want to use your Dental Assistant skills in makes the field even more inviting. If you are not sure if a particular type of agency is a good fit for you, talk to them. Ask if you can shadow another Dental Assistant who works there for a few days. This should give you plenty of exposure to the activities that take place in that agency. Not only are people in the UK and Europe looking for better and more affordable dental care, nearly half of the population in the US is without proper dental coverage. Dental tourism, or the idea of traveling outside of your own country to obtain dental care, has become a very attractive option for those people requiring routine dental care, restorative dental care, or cosmetic dentistry procedures. Americans have long been attracted to Mexico for cut-rate dental work, however, many complaints about quality and safety have been mentioned. Times have changed, and now one of the hottest destinations today for dental tourism is Budapest, Hungary. In Budapest, first-rate dental clinics with highly trained dental care professionals await. Traveling to Budapest is simple to arrange, with direct flights daily. People from all over the world have begun to consider Budapest one of the capitals of dental tourism. Cash-strapped companies have reduced health benefits for employees, often beginning with dental care benefits. Several Fortune 500 companies have considered offering bonuses to employees willing to seek medical or dental care abroad, which saves the company money on insurance premiums. Reduction in benefits has left so many without the care they need and unable to find a dentist they can trust. In the US, a common complaint of patients is that dentists and doctors do not provide enough attention to patient care. Dental Care US can help with these problems. By arranging every detail, from the initial consultation, review of any xrays and records, organizing the travel plans and accommodations, providing the services, and being available for any customer service need that arises, Dental Care US scores high in customer satisfaction. Find out how Dental Care US can make your dental tourism experience a great one. Visit Dental Care US on the web, or simply call 1-859-838-6170 to find out more. Our patients frequently ask us important questions and concerns:

Q:  Are you expensive?

A:  Healthcare cost is a concern to us all.  The fact is, good dentistry is not all that expensive, but neglect is.  That’s why prevention forms the foundation of all we do here.  The best insurance is the use of brush and floss each day.  Once we teach you how to prevent future problems and you give us time to repair problems that ocurred in the past, we can get your mouth under control, which will reduce your visit to two per year for cleanings, which is very reasonable.   Of course if you need extensive dental treatment, we will give you a complete treatment plan, explain the cost to you in detail, if you have insurance we will assist you in maximizing your benefits, and make sure you understand everything before we begin.  We have flexible financial arrangements if you need financing.

Q:  I’m afraid of pain, how can you make my visit comfortable?

A:  For the most part, dentistry doesn’t hurt anymore.  We find patient’s are fearful of being hurt.  Our goal is for you to relax.  And that begins when you walk into our office.  Our reception area is cozy and homey.  You will be greeted by the relaxing aroma of our soothing scented candles, and the calming sound of  our water fountain, we also have an exotic tea selection.  Now, this is the beginning of a nice experience, so if you combine that with a gentle touch, and a gentle injection, you may start to relax and start to trust us.  And that is the beginning of a succesful team.

Q:   Do I have to have my silver filllings replaced?

A:  Many people had silver fillings placed into their teeth because they had “cavities”.  The silver fillings are called amalgams.  After the cavity was removed, a silver filling was placed to fill the space.  Over a period of time, the amalgam corrodes and leaks (The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a Proposition 65 warning amalgam fillings causes exposure to mercury, a chemical known to the state of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.), which blackens the silver, and at  times, the tooth.  We here at Dental Care of Petaluma, Dr. Smida can provide you with composite fillings that are made of porcelain-like material that bonds to the tooth(providing a tight seal).  Composite filllings are very strong, and they match your natural tooth color, so after your appointment, you usually can’t tell which tooth was repaired.

Q:  I was told, that if I’m pregnant, I should avoid dental treatment, is this true?

A:  During pregnancy, your body experiences a surge in hormones which can exaggerate your body’s normal response to plaque on your teeth.  If plaque is not removed daily, by brushing and flossing, it can irritate your gums and cause condition called pregnancy gingivitis.  You can prevent gingivitis by keeping your teeth clean, especially near your gumline.  Brush your teeth at least twice a day and after meals when possible, floss daily.  Other tips include:

  • If you suffer from morning sickness, repeatedly rinse your mouth with water and brush your teeth as often as possible to neutralize the acid caused by vomiting.
  • If brushing your teeth caused morning sickness, rinse your mouth with water, brush without toothpaste and follow with anti-plaque fluoride mouthwash.

* eat a well-balance diet with plenty of Vitamin C and B12; both are important to oral health. When you’re pregnant or planning to become pregnant, arrange an appointment right away for your cleanings and to discuss your oral health.  routine cleanings can generally be performed throughout your pregnancy, but the best time for any dental treatment is during the second trimester.  Follow these guidelines for other procedures.

Q:  XRAY – is it safe?

<br />

Q:  What do I do if I have a dental emergency

A:  Injuries to the teeth, gums, and tongue are often painful and should be treated by a dentist as soon as possible after injuries occur.  Following is a list of most common ental emergencies and the actions to follow if injury occur.

  • Knocked out tooth:  knocked out teeth account for approx.15% of children’s dental emergencies.  It is important to find the tooth and rinse off any dirt or debris under cool running water.  If possible, gently replace the tooth in its socket and hold it in place with a finger.  If this is not possible, put the tooth in a cup of milk, saline, cool water within the mouth between the cheeck and gum.  Do not allow the tooth to dry out.  The American Dental Association recommends bringing the injured person to the dentist within 30 minutes.(707-789-9151)
  • Fractured tooth: rinse the mouth with water to clean the area.  A cold compress appllied to the cheek near the fracture can help reduce swelling.  Call for an appointment  immediately (707-789-9151).
  • Lost filling:  clean area gently.  Try placing a small piece for orthodontic wax or a piece of cotton over the area to ease the discomfort.  Call for an appointment immediately (707) 789-9151.
  • Objects lodged between the teeth:  Using dental floss, attempt to carefully remove the object by guiding the floss between the teeth.  Avoid cutting the gums.  do not attempt to remove the object using a sharp instrument or a toothpick, as it could splinter in the gums.  If dental floss does not help, call for an appointment immediately

time taken away from your busy life.  The results are immediate and

dazzling smile isn’t just for celebrities any more. It’s for you,
    because you’re worth it.

shells of porcelain that are custom fit over your natural teeth. Dr. Bram can
change the shape, color and length of your teeth in only two visits. It
looks so good you’ll wonder why you waited so long.

    Porcelain Crowns.
When the size of a “filling” exceeds a certain proportion of the tooth,
it must be replaced with a “cap,” also called a “crown.”
Dr. Bram likes to use porcelain
crowns that look very natural and don’t have a dark metal line.

Porcelain crowns reflect light with a natural healthy glow.

    Go natural with dental implants.
Implants are bridges that are permanently anchored into the jaw. Because
there is always a perfect fit, implants are almost the same as having
your natural teeth back again. To qualify for implants, you’ll need
healthy oral tissues and jawbone ridges that are in good shape. If
you’re suffering from tooth loss, talk with Dr. Bram about whether implants are an
    option for you.

    Dental Bonding.
Dr. Bram uses dental bonding to sculpt individual teeth with a special
tooth-like material that looks, acts and feels like the real thing.

Bonding is an affordable, quick and painless way to repair many cosmetic
    flaws or injuries.

Turn “Metal Mouth” into a natural smile.
    Replace old crowns and bridges
with metal-free restorations. There’s a huge difference between metal
fillings and Dr. Bram’s new porcelain restorations that reflect the
translucence of natural teeth. Your new metal-free crowns, inlays and
bridges won’t show wear or cause opposing teeth to erode, and fitting
the crown or bridge is a breeze.

A dental crown is a restoration which is designed to fit seamlessly over an individual’s tooth.  The crown surrounds tooth structure and provides vital protection for the surfaces of the tooth.  Dental crowns require approximately two visits in order to be placed to protect severely decayed or damaged teeth.

During the initial visit, Dr. Kashfian, Chatsworth dental crowns dentist, will begin the procedure with a topical anesthetic to temporarily numb the soft tissue.  Local anesthetic will then be used to help patients feel comfortable during the procedure.

Dr. Kashfian, dentist in Chatsworth, will then intricately remove any decay and prepare the tooth for a dental crown.  After the tooth has been properly prepared, an impression will be taken.  This impression serves as a blueprint for the fabrication of the dental crown. Placement of a temporary dental crown will help protect the tooth while the permanent crown is being processed at the dental laboratory.

After the crown has been completely processed to perfection, Dr. Kashfian, expert in porcelain crowns in Chatsworth, will try the crown on the tooth and examine the restoration for any discrepancies.  The dental crown will then be permanently bonded onto the tooth with a special bonding agent.

Dental crowns may be necessary for the following reasons:

    •    Protect severely decayed or fractured teeth
    •    Restore teeth that have been severely worn
    •    Provide support for extremely large fillings where tooth structure has been compromised
    •    Provide support for a dental bridge
    •    Restore a dental implant
    •    Enhance a tooth’s size, shape, and color for cosmetic purposes

Crowns are made from various materials including porcelain fused to metal, resin, or ceramic:

    •    Porcelain fused to metal crowns can be custom fabricated to blend with the natural teeth.  Dr. Kashfian, Chatsworth porcelain crowns dentist, uses these types of crowns for front or back teeth.  However, these crowns can cause extensive wear to the natural teeth and can fracture in some cases.  It is important to note that the benefits outweigh the risks in comparison to various dental crown materials.

    •    All-resin dental crowns are considered to be the most cost effective; however, they are extremely sensitive to fractures.  These crowns also can wear down over time.

    •    All-ceramic dental crowns are suitable for patients who have metal allergies.  These crowns are also extremely easy to color-match and are great for front teeth.  Ceramic crowns, however, have the tendency to wear over time and may even be prone to fractures.

Dental crowns can last up to 10 or more years with proper care.  The longevity of a crown is dependent upon the amount of wear the crown is exposed to, personal oral hygiene habits and distinctive habits such as clenching or grinding of teeth.

If you are interested in learning more about the risks and benefits of dental crowns, contact our office today.  Dr. Kashfian, expert in dental crowns in Chatsworth, will be happy to examine your teeth and answer any questions you have about crowns or other dental treatments.

People often do not pay as much attention to their dental health as they do to other illnesses, often with serious consequences. To keep dental diseases at bay and to meet the rising costs of dental treatment it is important that you choose a good dental plan. Having a dental plan should encourage you to take more preventive care of your teeth to avoid the more serious dental problems.

With medical insurance services, the cost of a particular medical treatment or health check is reimbursed directly by the insurance company to the medical service provider. With dental insurance plans, the company is responsible for reimbursing the dentist. Dental plans can however vary in type and feature. Dentists participating in discount dental plans take lower fees than those covered by regular dental plans, with discounts varying between 20% and 60%.

All dental plans charge a membership fee, with the amount varying from one plan to the other. Dental plans are offered to either individuals or to the whole family, with family dental plans usually offering bigger discounts than individual dental plans. You should compare the rates charged under the different plans before selecting the most appropriate one for you.

It is important also to know the type of dental services covered by your dental plan. Routine dental check ups and dental treatments such as oral examination, teeth cleaning, fluoride treatment, teeth filling and teeth extraction are generally covered by most dental plans. However, dental plans do not always cover major dental care treatments such as oral surgery, dental implants, restorative care, braces, root canal treatments etc. In case of such costly dental procedures you unfortunately have to foot the bill yourself. Often there are a number of alternative treatments available for certain dental problems. Under such circumstances dental plans allow reimbursement for the cost of the basic dental treatment, and further costs in excess of the basic treatment cost has to be covered by the patient.

Dental health plans may or may not allow you to choose your own dentist, but it is common practice for patients to generally receive dental care from dentists mentioned in the plan. Before choosing a plan make sure that the participating dentists practice in your area. Choose a plan that is accepted nationwide and not restricted to your state. Check whether you are allowed to visit the dentist unscheduled, or at scheduled hours only.

You also need to decide whether you want an annual plan or a monthly plan. Annual dental plans are more cost beneficial than monthly plans. So get regular check ups with your dentist to reap the maximum benefits out of your dental plan.

Would you like to have fantastic celebrity teeth then you need to get the right mix of cosmetic dentistry and oral health products and services. You may want to invest in dental plans or dental insurance to make sure that you can get regular oral health check ups to make sure that your teeth are in a healthy condition but you need to help maintain the work your dentist does.

If you have bad teeth that are either crooked or chipped then you might want to consider some cosmetic dental surgery. A whole host of famous celebrities and Hollywood actors are getting veneers placed on their teeth to get the celeb smile they want. This may be something you are happy to do but there are various solutions as it really depends on what the problem is. If your teeth just aren’t very straight then a brace might be the easiest option. If the crookedness of your teeth is more severe then it might not be a problem with your teeth. Many people often have crooked jaws; Tom Cruise is a celebrity that suffers with this problem. To fix problems like this often requires breaking and resetting the jaw, so this sort of operation might not be suitable for everyone.

Teeth whitening supplies will help to keep your teeth white by removing of intrinsic stains. There are lots of different teeth whitening supplies available on the market, like teeth whitening strips such as Crest white strips that you put on your teeth for half an hour. There are also laser teeth whitening products available. There is a bit more work involved but you should be able to get a bright white look to your teeth. You simple fill up a whitening tray with teeth whitening gel and then attach a laser light on to the front.

Good oral health isn’t always about your teeth, often people can have problems such as halitosis and gum disease. Although brushing your teeth will help look after your teeth and your mouth, brushing doesn’t take care of your whole mouth. Mouth wash is a great way to kill bacteria as well as helping to clean parts of your teeth that brushing can’t reach. It is also important to take care of your tongue as this can hold a lot of bacteria and stains from drinking, eating and smoking. A tongue scraper will help to remove most of this and many toothbrushes now come with a basic version of this on the back of them.

If you take all of these strategies into practice then you too can have Celebrity Teeth or at the very least improve the state of bad teeth.

Do you know like other insurances, ‘dental insurance’ is also available? In addition, there are some dental insurance available in the market that are just for employees. These dental insurances provide financial assistance to treat the damaged teeth and for normal dental care. Some years before, it was considered that only exuberant people indulge in dental insurances. Moreover, during that time dental care was utterly slept over. However, with the lapse of time, people have become more and more aware about their dental health and as a result, the trend of dental insurance is soaring high. Generally, many companies provide their employees with dental insurances. Generally, it is edified that one must get ones dental care insured.

Dental insurance is cheaper than other kinds of insurance. In fact, dental insurance costs less than 10% of the cost of the medical coverage. As many other insurance plans wrap many kind of plans within their entity in the same way dental insurance plans for employees also brings before you many kinds of plans. There are three major kinds of dental insurance plans, which are particularly for employees. Out of these three dental insurance plans, first one is Managed care plans. Managed care plans are counted among the most inexpensive dental insurance plan for the employees. This kind of plan covers some cost control measures and is suitable for small business. Under the rules of this plan patient has to pay a certain amount as co-payment and the amount of co-payment may be different depending on the procedure. Managed care plans are further divided into two types.

Under first one, known as Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO), employees are given the freedom to choose the dentist from the group of mentioned dentists. However, under Dental Health Maintenance (DHMO) dentists provide you certain services free of cost and do not give discount on the fees. Second, type of managed care plan is known as Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) consists of a network of dentists. If an employee joins this program than he or she may avail various dental facilities at comparatively lower cost. Second kind of plan that has specially been molded for employees is known as indemnity plan. Under the provisions of this plan, an employee gives a particular amount of money as premium and in turn, company pays the amount to the dentists for his services. Under the provisions of this plan company uses UCR (usual, customary, and reasonable) to pay the dentists. In case if the UCR rate used to pay dentists falls short of dentist’s rate, the patient has to make up the shortfall. Among the three fundamental dental insurance plans that are provided by the small companies to its employees, third one is known as Direct Reimbursement Plan. Under the provisions of this plan, an employee is refunded the money that he or she spends on his or her dental care.

Although almost 90 percent of dentists own their own practices, they often have only basic knowledge about everything from staffing their offices to marketing their services. “As a result, dental practice management is often inefficient and ineffective, which negatively affects dentists’ professional satisfaction and profitability,” says Gregory Winteregg, DDS, Vice President of MGE: Management Experts, Inc. (www.mgeonline.com) and an expert in dental practice management consulting. “Although dentists want to focus on their patients’ dental care, they are distressed that much of their time is spent dealing with insurance companies and business administration.”

Further, Dr. Winteregg says that, while dental schools do an excellent job teaching dental students about state of the art procedures and equipment, they fall short when it comes to teaching business and communication skills. As a result, dentists often become dependent upon a business consultant to guide them in practice management. “MGE: Management Experts takes a different approach,” says Dr. Winteregg. “By training dentists in business technology, communications, and human resources, they are empowered to efficiently run their practices, which positively influences their bottom lines.”

MGE trains dentists, their office managers and staff on subjects ranging from marketing, case acceptance, organization, management, financial planning, and leadership. Collectively, MGE’s entire training program is called the MGE Power Program. In a statistical study conducted at the end of 2005, MGE found that the average client starting the Power Program had average monthly collections of $37,000. Within three months, clients increased monthly collections by an average of 31 percent, while after two years, the average monthly collections increased by 132 percent. “After five years, the average MGE Power Program client is collecting $123,500 per month,” says Dr. Winteregg. “That’s an increase of 232 percent!”

Dr. Winteregg spent eleven years in private practice as a general dentist before turning to MGE to help him streamline and build his practice. As an MGE client, he found the principles and tools he needed to have his practice become one of the top four percent of practices nationwide. “I discovered that the keys to growing my practice were learning how to effectively market for fee-for-service new patients so as to stay out of HMOs and PPOs, to hire the right people to staff my office, and to learn how to communicate with my patients to increase comprehensive treatment acceptance,” says Dr. Winteregg.

Within two years, Dr. Winteregg decided to dedicate his career to helping other dentists thrive, and joined MGE as a partner with Luis Col?n, a leading national executive trainer and speaker.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment growth in the field of dentistry will not outpace the average growth of other professions or industries in the coming decade. “Because dentistry is not a high-growth profession, dentists must be proactive in building and streamlining their practices,” says Dr. Winteregg. “In today’s environment, the cornerstone is to attract fee-for-service patients and those with traditional insurance plans, and to avoid the reduced fees and time-consuming overhead that comes with being a member of an HMO or PPO.”

MGE: Management Experts, Inc. guides dentists through the maze of business administration hurdles, human resources challenges, and communication barriers that often prevent dentists from feeling professionally fulfilled and reaping financial rewards. Dr. Winteregg concludes, “We’re committed to providing professionals with the tools to develop sound dental practice management. Time and again, we’ve found that when dentists have these tools in place, they not only feel enormous professional fulfillment, but the monetary rewards flow effortlessly.”

Dental care is a very important part of our modern life today. Having a great smile can instill confidence, self-pride and a feeling of accomplishment. From young children to adults, our teeth are very important to us.

Some people are provided with dental insurance from their job, but for many, dental expenses are left to be paid out of pocket. This can present a challenge for some people. Paying full price for dental expenses can be overwhelming, especially if major work needs to be completed. Braces, dental implants, and major work such as root canals can become very expensive. Thankfully, there is another option to traditional dental insurance. Discount dental plans are becoming more and more popular among singles, families, the self-employed, and the middle-aged.

There are many situations where discount dental plans are the ideal choice. Perhaps you have an emergency situation and need immediate care. Or, the high cost of dental insurance does not make it worth it for you in the long run. There are some who don’t find it worth $50-$200 per month for dental insurance. You may pay only $100-$200 per year for regular cleanings if your teeth are in good shape, and you only need to spend more occasionally when extra dental work is needed.

Self-employed and small business owners may also find dental insurance hard to swallow. Adding more paperwork and payments becomes more of a hassle than a benefit. An employer can offer a Dental Discount Card to employees, and avoid many hassles and paperwork. Some employerw will even buy the card for the employees as a job perk!

Dental discount programs can be a great solution for many situations. Often, there is no or very little paperwork involved, discounts can begin immediately, and there are no co-pays, premiums, or annual limits. Many times, financing for larger purchases can be worked out with the dentist, or an independent finance company. Many people are turning to discount dental plans instead of traditional dental insurance becaus of ease of use and flexibility. Unemployed, Self-Employed, and People with jobs not offering Benefits are all great candidates for dental discount plans.

Healthy and strong teeth are an important part of child health. Children’s teeth start to develop before they are born. There are two sets of teeth first is milk teeth and second is permanent teeth. Milk teeth have an important part to play in the development of the permanent teeth, so it is very important to look after them. Milk teeth are very small, and any decay on a primary tooth is a concern. Permanent teeth usually start to erupt at the age of six. Adults have up to 32 permanent teeth. Most of these will erupt by the age of 13. Permanent teeth press on the roots of the milk teeth.

Children’s teeth are very sensitive and need care. Most pediatric dentists will conform that everyday dental care should begin by one year of age, with a dental check-up at least twice each consecutive year for most children. Several children may require more frequent evaluations and care. For babies should clean teeth with a soft, clean cloth or baby’s toothbrush. Brush your child’s teeth using toothpaste that contains fluoride twice a day, in the morning and before going to sleep at night. Avoid putting the baby to bed with a bottle and check teeth regularly for spots or stains. Good eating habits are also key in good dental health.

Sugar sticks to teeth and causes decay. Be certain to stick to healthy foods and snacks. Stay away from candy and sugars. Brush your child’s teeth 2 to 3 times a day to cure plaque and tartar buildup. And never let your child take milk or juice to bed in a bottle or cup. The decreased swallowing while sleeping permits the sugars from these liquids to sit on the teeth causing serious decay. Other good dental health habits include do not put your young child to bed with a bottle of milk, formula, or juice. Regular professional cleanings and fluoride treatments are also very beneficial.

Sealants can cure tooth rot on the masticating surfaces of molars where four out of five cavities occur. Some children require more support than a soft, caring method to feel cozy during dental treatment. Restraint or mild sedation may profit your special child. Forming good habits at a young age can help your child have well teeth for life. Healthy teeth not only have powerful enamel and a lack of decay, but they are also well aligned. Healthy teeth mean that the child is skill to eat a healthy diet, and aids the development of the jaw. This can affect facial appearance and speech development.

Dental care is very important and choosing the right plan will help you maintain your pearly whites in good condition. There are many dental plans to choose from depending on your needs but the best way to get the most out of a plan is to fully understand first the dental plan coverage and see if it would cover your dental necessities.

There are two major types of dental insurance – indemnity and managed care plans. Each type has its own pros and cons so it is important to determine your dental needs first and see which of the two will suit you to make sure that you will be able to maximize the dental plan you will choose.

If you want to make your own choices regarding your dental care, then you might want to consider getting an indemnity plan. This type of insurance lets the plan holder select the dental care provider they want to go to. The usual process is that the plan holder will pay first for his or her dental care services and then submit claim forms to the insurance company to reimburse the payment made.

This process usually works best for transactions between the dentist and the plan holder because some dentists do not have smooth relationships with insurance providers. The downside, though, is that the plan holder might go through a lot of paperwork. Furthermore, there might be instances that the provider does not agree that the dental work should be covered by the insurance. This means a long process before the plan holder gets to reimburse the up-front fee he or she paid for.

On the other hand, if you want lower costs for your dental care you should try asking about managed care plans. These plans have very low costs and do not require that much paperwork. The usual process for these kinds of plans is that the insurance company will pay the dental care provider and then the dentist will give the plan holders a discount as part of the insurance coverage. The downside of this insurance plan, though, is that the insurance company is the one to pick out which dental service providers that the plan holder can visit to get dental care. If the plan holder chose to get dental care from a dentist not specified on the insurance company’s list, then the dental care service won’t be covered by the plan and the plan holder will have to pay for the services from his or her own pocket.

Whether which type of plan you choose to get, dental plans usually depends on your budget and dental needs. It is wise to determine first your needs and how much you are willing to spend on your dental plan before you go ahead and sign an agreement with an insurance company. Understand first all the insurance coverage and exclusions so you won’t be caught off-guard in any situation. This way, you are sure to get what your money is worth and at the same time keep those pearly whites healthy.

Visiting your dentist is an important part of your overall plan to keep yourself healthy. (You do have that plan, right?) There are hundreds of good reasons to keep up with your regular dental care, here’s a list of some of the most important ones:

Cleaning and checkup: Your regular polish and scale will keep your teeth looking their best, find problems when they are more easily treated, and prevent many major dental issues.

Problems don’t go away or heal: Dental problems are the kind of problems that just don’t go away on their own. Rotting teeth with cavities are just going to keep getting worse. Get them taken care of!

Bad breath: Does this one really need to be explained? Dental cleanings, treating any decay or problem in your teeth, and good dental hygiene can help.

Oral cancer screenings: Oral cancers are highly treatable and curable with early detection. Your dentist is probably the most likely person to notice any unusual symptoms in your mouth or throat, probably long before they become a problem that you might notice yourself.

Periodontal Disease: Gum disease can lead to a host of other health problems, including tooth loss, bone loss, heart problems, and diabetes.

It’s not so bad: While you’re getting those problems fixed, you should know that often a root canal sounds a lot worse than it is. Many people have reported that the relief they get from a root canal far outweighs any temporary discomfort from the procedure.

Change toothbrush: When you visit your dentist regularly, he or she will give you a new toothbrush! Who doesn’t love something for free? And, changing your toothbrush regularly is important to combat germs and make sure your brush is as effective as possible.

All of these reasons only lead to one thing—more reasons to smile. If you cannot find affordable, quality dental care nearby, it’s time to consider dental tourism. Visit www.dentalcarelondon.com for more information!

Dental phobia and dental fear are issues that most experienced hypnotherapists treat on a regular basis. Following treatment, patients are often amazed at how easy it really was for them to free themselves from this really powerful and incapacitating fear.

After brief hypno-psychotherapy, they can at last visit the dentist and begin the process of restoring their dental health in a calm and relaxed manner, without the heart-palpitating, terrible feelings of anxiety and panic that they had previously experienced when thinking about, or actually visiting the dentist.

When it comes to dental phobia and fear of dental procedures, research has shown that it is a surprisingly common condition. Indeed, according to a really comprehensive survey conducted by the British Dental Association, a full 25% of the general population actually have a fear of the dentist and a fear of dental procedures.

In cases of really severe dental phobia, the mere sight of a dental practice, or even a toothpaste commercial can provoke feelings of anxiety.

Very often, by the time the individual with a dentist phobia or fear of the dentist actually arrives at the hypnotherapy office, they have already allowed their teeth, gums and general oral health to reach such a poor state that they really have no choice but to take action.

Often, their dentist will have referred them so that they can free themselves of this very real – yet totally unnecessary and incapacitating – fear.

Not infrequently, individuals with this fear will suffer tremendous discomfort and real pain rather than seek out proper, effective dental care.

The simple truth is that their dental fear has somehow been more powerful than the real pain and unsightliness of their decaying teeth and painful gums.

The origins of dental phobia very often lie in previous negative or painful experiences that the individual has undergone at some time in the past when visiting the dentist. Sometimes, such fear can be passed on from a parent, or it can even be caused by unhelpful comments made by a dentist or dental nurse during previous dental procedures.

Additionally, feelings of vulnerability and loss of control, perhaps combined with an underlying fear of the unknown, can be set in motion by the very thought of being in the dentist’s chair. With today’s advances in modern dentistry, combined with modern pain control techniques, there really is no reason why a visit to the dentist need be a painful or fearful experience. Sparkling teeth and healthy gums can be yours — without any unnecessary discomfort or pain.

Perhaps you already know this. Perhaps you are already aware that your dental phobia and fear of dental treatment is unrealistic and largely irrational. But knowing this and being empowered to conquer it are, of course, different things.

The good news is that no-one is born with this fear and, since dental phobia and dentist fear – in common with all phobias – is a learned behaviour, it can indeed be ‘unlearned’. And this is where advanced transformational hypnotherapy is of such enormous help.

In most instances, it is a fear that can be completely neutralized in just two sessions of effective hypnotherapy.

Through the medium of advanced hypnotherapy, correctly applied, you truly can free yourself from any unnecessary fear of the dentist or fear of dental procedures. It really is possible for you to put an end to your dental phobia and fear of the dentist.

When you are aware that modern dentistry can indeed provide effective yet pain-free treatment, it makes sense to let go of this very real block to dental health.

If you or someone you care about suffers from dental phobia or fear of the dentist, seek out a fully trained and experienced transformational hypnotherapist and put the smile back on your face!

Have you ever come across a case where your dog is having awfully bad breath? So awful that you wish you do not own a dog? If it is the case, then it is time to take you pet to the veterinary. Like human, healthy dogs do not have smelly breath.

After dog finishes his meal, minute food particles remain inside his mouth. This stage is called “periodontal” disease. The dog has awfully bad breath (halitosis) at this time, and it is necessary to see your veterinary.

Worse, the bacteria in mouth pass to intestine with food, and can cause heart, liver or kidney failure in dogs. The bacteria in mouth can go to the heart through the blood stream. These bacteria cause valve failure in heart, and your pet will get severely ill. Diseases of mouth are very painful for the dog, and being a dog lover you would certainly not want your dog to suffer this torture. It is therefore important that you practice oral hygiene for your dog, and protect him from severe diseases.

    Symptoms of dental diseases

Bad breath is arguably the most common symptom of dental disease; there are many other ways to find out that your dog has a dental problem.

    Prevention and cure

You might already be wondering what could be the remedy. Well “Prevention is better than cure”. The best thing is to regularly brush your dog’s teeth. It is your first line of defense against plaque, and tartar. Regular brushing keeps teeth healthy, and stops bad breath. Start brushing teeth from the time your pet is young. This will make him accustomed to your finger, and the taste of paste. Later you can start using toothbrushes.

There are also a number of commercially available dog-foods approved by vets, and these can be provided sometimes to your dog. These foods are made such that your dog chews them well, and in the process, the plaque and tartar gets removed.

In case of gingivitis, and “periodontal” disease the vets give anesthesia to the dog, and mechanically remove the tartar. Scaling is often done to remove the tartar that is accumulated under the gums. Once this is done the teeth are polished so that it is difficult for bacterial to develop on the teeth. After treatment, you need to regularly brush dog’s teeth, feed hard food, and regular checkup is necessary.

It is therefore very necessary that you regularly brush your dog’s teeth just like taking care of our own and our baby’s, and maintain proper oral hygiene.

Primarily because of its cost and the growing needs of families to correct the abnormal growth positions of their children’s teeth that might otherwise affect their health and facial beauty, insurance companies have now designed very affordable insurance for dental braces.

Give Me Dental or Give Me Death

    America’s State of Oral Decay

    July 9, 2007

    by Kimberly Holt

We are facing a tremendous crisis in this country. It’s not talked about much. I started a website, http://www.getfreedental.com, to help adults get the dental care they need at no cost, or at the very least, very little cost. The response I’ve received has been incredible. In the few weeks the site has been up, I’ve received hundreds, nearly a thousand emails from average Americans with stories that are truly heartbreaking.

They pay as little as $1000 a year and so are the so-called “discount plans.”

Let’s not even get into the psychological end of it!

I think that most of the people who do not suffer with dental problems believe that people just don’t take care of their teeth, or that they are drug addicts and deserve what they get! Well, I was born with paper thin teeth and I have taken better care of my teeth than most people I know! I’m not a drug addict and never have been. It’s simply a matter of genetics!

I really don’t know that much about politics (except the ones in my own house!) lol

In light of all the politicians and everyone else that voted to take adult dental Medicaid away, (we’re assuming they all could afford dental care) I have a suggestion…

They really don’t realize how much they have affected the workforce and healthcare. It’s just a matter of money to them.

The dentist won’t suffer a bit. People would return to work (or have the confidence to get a job), and there would be a lot less need for medical care for dental related health problems.

Hey! I would even do something in return for it. Pick up a highway or something! Whatever you want me to do! lol

Community service for the cost of the services!

I’m ready to start a petition. SOMETHING has to be done!

    ===================

As a dog gets older they will require more dental care so that their teeth remain healthy,

so it is important to know that while they are still young, their teeth should already be properly taken care of.

    Your dogs Diet

If you have a young dog start them on good quality dry foods. The crunchy texture helps the removal of plaque which moist foods are unable to. The crunchy feature also helps to stimulate the gums so that gum diseases are also prevented.

It is always best to consult your vet on the type of dental care you should be providing for your dog. Some breeds are more susceptible to dental problem than others and your vet can suggest the right food for them

    Products For Dog Dental Care

There are many products on the market now available for your dogs dental health, from specially designed biscuits, chewing bones (such as pigs ears), toothpastes and tooth brushes. By using them it will decrease the chance of your dog getting gum or teeth disease. Always use specially prepared dog toothpaste. Because dogs cannot rinse and spit after a brushing, the dog toothpaste must be safe for pets to swallow! Some human toothpaste contains detergents which can upset your dog’s stomachs, and, in addition, large quantities of ingested fluoride can harm your dog. To go with the toothpaste you can use a regular brush or a finger brush. The finger brush can easily be placed over your finger so that it is easier to brush your dog’s teeth. Consult your vet on what they recommend to be the most suitable for your dog’s teeth. Your dog’s teeth need to be cleaned at least twice a week.

Dental Assistants clean the tools used as well as make sure each work unit has the necessary tools and equipment ready for the next patient’s procedures.

Often, these populations can’t afford dental care and would go without it if the services weren’t offered as part of a government program.

Dental tourism, or the idea of traveling outside of your own country to obtain dental care, has become a very attractive option for those people requiring routine dental care, restorative dental care, or cosmetic dentistry procedures.
